Cette performance est le fruit d’une rencontre intime entre Johannes Pelkmans, ancien joaillier, et Eve Bonneau. À la suite d’un AVC, Johannes a dû abandonner son métier, laissant derrière lui un savoir-faire forgé par des années de minutie et de passion.
Pendant deux mois, Eve Bonneau a visité Johannes aux Homes des Ursulines, tissant avec lui un dialogue. De ces échanges est née une action performative, une célébration du parcours de Johannes, un hommage à ses mains—celles qui façonnaient autrefois la matière précieuse, mais aussi celles qui portent aujourd’hui la trace d’un bouleversement physique.
La performance propose une expérience de l’éblouissement, à la fois réel et métaphorique. Pour Johannes, l’éblouissement est l’essence même du happening : une émotion vive née de la surprise, insaisissable et irréductible, qui ne peut jamais véritablement se répéter.
Dans un geste délicat, Eve recouvre les mains de Johannes de feuilles dorées. Par ce soin, elle les panse, leur offre une attention réparatrice. Mais ce geste ne se limite pas à l’apaisement : il sacralise. En enveloppant ces mains d’or, elle les élève au rang de trophée, affirmant leur valeur, leur histoire. Ce rituel inscrit une autre mémoire à cet endroit, une mémoire où la fragilité devient éclat, où la trace du passé s’ancre dans le présent avec une lumière nouvelle.

This performance is the result of an intimate encounter between Johannes Pelkmans, a former jeweler, and Eve Bonneau. Following a stroke, Johannes was forced to abandon his craft, leaving behind a skill honed through years of precision and passion.
For two months, Eve Bonneau visited Johannes at the Homes des Ursulines, weaving a dialogue with him. From these exchanges emerged a performative act—a celebration of Johannes’ journey, an homage to his hands: the hands that once shaped precious materials, but also those that now bear the traces of physical transformation.
The performance offers an experience of dazzlement, both literal and metaphorical. For Johannes, dazzlement is the very essence of the happening: a vivid emotion born from surprise, fleeting and irreducible, never truly repeatable.
In a delicate gesture, Eve covers Johannes' hands with golden leaf. Through this act, she tends to them, offering a moment of care and repair. But this gesture goes beyond soothing—it sanctifies. By enveloping these hands in gold, she elevates them to the status of a trophy, affirming their value, their history. This ritual inscribes another memory in this place—a memory where fragility turns into radiance, where the imprint of the past anchors itself in the present with a newfound light.
